Physical water barrier, an innovative safety feature designed for every project.

The Keepex bubblecurtain is specially designed to generate the ascent of large volumes of water to the surface through the generation of macro bubbles, to create a water upwelling barrier, perimeter to the culture center, which could mitigate the entry of microalgae into the culture cages.

Control of harmful algal phenomena

Microalgae barrier

The purpose of this system is, through upwelling, to create a physical water barrier, with high kinetic capacity, which would make it difficult for microalgae to pass through.

Underwater noise control

It can be used as a physical barrier to mitigate the effects of noise in oceanic operations.

General Description:

The Keepex surge curtain is a ½" hose that has a macro borehole every 50 cm and an air supply inlet every 80 m (50 ft). The flow rate per perforation is 36.4 lpm at 50 psi (Fig. 4).

It is installed around the perimeter of the cultivation center, under the microalgae bloom line, generally at a depth of 10 meters. It comes in stretches of 80 m. with 20 m. of supply hose.

It is recommended to use an individual flow meter or board at the inlet of each supply to regulate the flow, so that it is homogeneous throughout the hose.

Among the features are the following:

  • Water yield per meter: 0.36 m3/sec.
  • Required flow per meter: 36.4 lpm.
